Bellissimo Lotta (Beautiful Fortune) (The Family Trilogy Book #2) by Leigh Ann Lunsford is the second book in a very promising and “angsty” series. This was the second book that I have read by this author and she is a truly talented writer.

Now let me start my review by setting you up with my thoughts and feelings from the first book in this series by quoting you the end of my review on that book: “The end of Bellissimo Fortuna is a set-up for Bianca’s story and can I say that the conversation between Bronson and Dakota, OMG, I had to go back and re-read the very last couple of pages, I felt like I just got punched hard in the stomach, I couldn’t breathe. I was floored and I have to say, my heart literally “hurt” and my first thought was oh gosh, I don’t know if I can read their story, lol, BUT I HAVE to with that revelation!!!!! I honestly am not sure what is going to happen with this group and yes, I am almost afraid to find out but wow, talk about a nail biter ending!”

OK, so with that being said, wow, I am in such a conflicted state with my thoughts and feelings on this one. I am not going to lie, I went into this story with a preconceived notion on “how” I was going to feel, heck, I was pretty certain that I was going to hate this story. Well, let me say first and foremost that I absolutely am in love with this author’s writing. She can nail a story to a tee without all of the fluff and “fillers” that have nothing to do with the story. She knows how to get to the heart of the story with such a talent and without the readers losing out on the entire storyline.

Everything in the “literal” sense from the start of this story until the very end flows seamlessly, perfectly, beautifully but for me the actual meat and potatoes of this story was very hard for me. Let me explain, I am a picky reader, I have certain reading preferences as I do “hard limits” and/or situations I am not favorable or in tune with. I don’t want to give away spoilers but the main issue of this story is a pretty hard limit for me and now don’t get me wrong I will read about it but I just can never get onboard with it. I know I may sound “cryptic” and I am trying to be cryptic in order to keep with the integrity of the story and not give away spoilers but just know for me, I thought I could “handle” the storyline but deep down I just couldn’t. Now with that being said, these are my own personal feelings, my own personal opinions and although it has nothing to do with the actual writing itself, I had a very difficult time with this story.

As I sit here writing my review, I am an emotional mess that I can tell you I will probably continue thinking about this book all night never mind for days to come, lol. As with the first book, the storyline is so compelling and the author draws you in so completely that you feel as if you “know” these characters, you can literally “feel” their emotions and so for me it’s going to take awhile to purge this story out of my mind.

What I LOVED about this story was getting even more intel on Bronson and Callie from the first book. I truly loved and adored everything about their ending in this book. For me, the VERY ending of this story and when you read it and finish this book, you will KNOW what I mean was brutal. Dakota and Bianca’s story is not over and for that I was disappointed. I had already found their “dance” went on far too long for me so I couldn’t help but not only gasp at the end but feel really conflicted and frustrated with that ending.

I may be in the minority here but for me I needed closure, full closure, this story was so taxing on my emotions and my heart couldn’t take much more and so when I got to that Epilogue, I had hoped for final clarity and I was very disappointed that I didn’t get that. My heart is utterly and completely torn between Dakota and Heath and I can honestly say I have no darn clue who I want to see in the end! I have to give credit to this author for making me feel a multitude of emotions on this story.

Why only 4 stars well, this was a story that I already knew from book 1 what was going to “happen” between Dakota and Bianca so I started out a bit “biased” but I really went into this story giving it a chance to redeem itself to me and unfortunately it didn’t quite get there completely for me. I think the “incident” for me was not justifiable by any means and so although I hate that it happened, I also wished I had a better “reason” for it happening and that never happened for me (even though for me deep down there would be no real justifiable reason it make it ok, sorry that’s me).

I do have to say and completely due to this author’s brilliant writing, by the end, I was left torn in half completely. Their story is written beautifully and brilliantly but with so much heartache in the same breath, I am just so conflicted.

This is definitely one of those stories that will stay with you and right now I am not sure if it will be in a great way or a not so great way if that makes sense. This story was very intense at times, super emotional and just downright beautiful too in its own way and I feel like I just ran a marathon. I am emotionally spent, drained, and just mentally exhausted, lol, and yeah, that’s a compliment to this author!

I am still officially a fan of this author. If you enjoy your romance mixed with suspense, drama, and lots of angst then pick up this book, you won’t regret it!
